Jimmy Buffett
Attention parrotheads: There’s still time to buy tickets before your leader’s concerts in Florida.
So come December, it will be all right if you purchase tickets but you shouldn’t wait much longer. As Hot Ticket reported in June, tickets for all three Jimmy Buffett concerts started below $100.
Those shows are Dec. 4 at Amalie Arena in Tampa; Dec. 7 at VyStar Veterans Memorial Arena in Jacksonville; and Dec. 11 at Amway Center in Orlando.
Tickets for those same concerts now are from $180 for Tampa; starting at $133 in Jacksonville; and from $33 for the Orlando concert.
Buffett, 74, is known best for his tequila cocktail tribute “Margaritaville,” with other hits including “Come Monday,” “Cheeseburger in Paradise,” “Son of a Son of a Sailor“ and “Boat Drinks.”
He’s also collaborated with other artists, such as Alan Jackson for the after-work classic “It’s Five O’ Clock Somewhere.”
Buffett’s music has spawned an empire, with Margaritaville restaurants and merchandise popular throughout the world. He’s also authored books and his Margaritaville brand is on casinos, vacation clubs, retirement communities and other ventures.
John Fogerty
Creedence Clearwater Revival was like Haley’s comet of the rock ‘n’ roll strastophere, blazing for just a short time. But what a time.
CCR frontman John Fogerty left the band that actu- ally lasted 13 years (1959-1972) but is primarily known for its five-year run from 1967-1972 with hits including “Fortunate Son,” “Down on the Corner“ and “Have You Ever Seen The Rain.”
He has four shows lined up for Florida in two months: Nov. 19 at Truman Waterfront Park Amphitheater in Key West; Nov. 20 at Yuengling Center on the campus of the University of South Florida; Nov. 21 at Hertz Arena in Estero; and Nov. 23 at Amway Center in Orlando.
Tickets went on sale Friday, Sept. 10, and are available at sites including ticketmaster.com.
Fogerty and his band CCR recorded numerous hits through the late 1960s and early ‘70s, offering a unique blend of blues, swamp and roots rock. The band performed at Woodstock in 1969 but just three years later broke up.
